What is a virtual domain?
A virtual domain is the base URL of the domain name. Examples include yourdomain.com, domainconnect.net, and whg.org. Virtual domain names are not just limited to .com, .net, .org, or .edu domain extensions. International domain names are also virtual domain names, such as domainconnect.co.uk, deutchland.de, etc.

What is a Top-Level-Domain (TLD)?

Who is Network Solutions (InterNIC) and what do they do?
Network Solutions, also known as "the InterNIC" is a spin-off from the National Science Foundation. Now publicly traded, the InterNIC is responsible for delegating ownership to virtual domain names with the .com, .net, .org, and .edu extensions. Network Solutions is also the organization who processes and acts upon your request to register your new virtual domain name. domainCONNECT.net simply applies for your new domain name on your behalf.

Does domainCONNECT.net host foreign domains?

Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the www?
Yes, all clients can access their website with and without the "www". In other words, you can access your website at www.yourdomain.com or just yourdomain.com, both of which are the same website. While this may seem somewhat unimportant, many would be surprised at how many people exclude the "www" and how many providers do not provide this service. Offering both options ensure you do not loose any visitors to your website.

Can I have multiple domains point to the same website?
Yes. This service is commonly referred to as "multiple domain name pointing" and allows you to have as many domain names as you wish point to the same website on your account.
Lets say we have two links that point to the same website as shown below:

http://www.domainconnect.net
http://www.dnaweb.net

As you can tell from these links, the two websites are exactly the same. This should not be confused with having different domains point to different websites all on the same account, which is discussed below.

Back

Can I have multiple domains point to different directories on your account?
No. domainCONNECT.net does not allow this, although we do allow sub-domains on some hosting plans to point to different directories on your account.

Does domainCONNECT.net handle domain registration?
For all Top Level Domains, domainCONNECT.net does send the registration application to Domain Registrars. This is done assuming that the client requests for domainCONNECT.net to do this on their behalf as stated on our order form. The registration application is sent to Domain Registrars within 1 second of the order being placed. The process of registering your new domain is usually completed within 24 hours and should be accessible within 2 to 4 days!

For all non Top Level Domains,
domainCONNECT.net does not handle the registration. Instead, it is the responsibility of the account holder to register the domain with the appropriate organization and pay all applicable fees.

How long does it take before my new domain name is active?
If you choose to have domainCONNECT.net register the domain name, on your behalf (recommended), then your domain name will likely be registered the next day, if the order is placed before 3:00 PM Central Standard Time. The application is sent to Domain Registrars approximately 1 second after your order is placed with us, and since domainCONNECT.net is a Premier Gold Partner, your domain name will be registered faster than most other hosting providers can offer.

Additionally, all correspondence with Domain Registrars, the original application for your domain name, are sent to you as well so you have a copy in case there is a problem registering your domain name.

Domain Registrars updates their root zone files at 4:00 am and 4:00 pm Central Time each day.
